Things to do in Alaska-Visit Hatchers Pass!

Things to do in Alaska-Visit Hatchers Pass!

No matter what the season, Hatchers Pass is one of our personal favorite places to go.

In the fall, there are the wonderful colors, the golden leaves pasted against the river washed boulders in the creek and the sound of the rushing waters. You may want to scope out the low bush cranberries and blueberries-the bears look forward to this time of year too so it is important to be bear aware if you are hunting berries with them!

During the winter, you can meet friends to traverse the whitewashed landscape with your sled, ski (both cross and downhill), snowshoe or simply marvel at the sparkles of ice crystals within the blanket of snow. This is the perfect time to try your luck at catching a picture of the Northern Lights!

Springtime lends to new growth, wildlife and sunrises as the view is clear to the ‘flats.’ More photo opportunities for emerging foliage and natural fauna. There is a road all the way to Willow but it will not be open in the spring (closed for snow cover).

Summer is gorgeous in Hatchers Pass-just stunning. This is when the road to Willow is open, the mine has self guided tours and a small museum loaded with gold mining history and the many trails are open for hiking.
